An interview with Chulpan Khamatova - IN RUSSIAN

Chulpan Khamatova is perhaps the most well known Russian theater actress of her generation. Days before her performances in New York City with the Theater of Nations, we caught up with Chulpan at the International Tchaikovsky Festival in the town of Klin, near Moscow. We talk about theater, of course - but, really, about life.

What makes men today identify with an internal crisis described by Chekhov a century and a half ago? Why should we not judge things and people as "good" or "bad"? And why, today, is conscience a word less often used than before? This and more in our conversation on the porch of the house where Peter Ilyitch Tchaikovsky spent the last year of his life.

Original air date: June 12, 2018 on NTV America.
